St. John Ambulance (Victoria) members engaged in a number of discussions on the organization's private "" group. These discussions surrounded the cover-up of sexual abuse within St. John's that was recently reported in the Australian media. In response an email was sent by management saying "Just don't say anything" with a threat of termination if compliance was not met.

The email was distributed amidst the publication of news articles on the 10th of May 2009 regarding the sexual abuse of cadet (child) members that occurred in the organisation. It was uncovered that over $60,000 was paid to abuse victims in 2008 as part of a confidentiality agreement that would effectively gag them from speaking out about what occurred.
