4 Ways to Keep Your Organization Safe

June 28, 2021 by TJ Leave a Comment

4 ways to keep your organization safe

A safe working culture is central to any organization. Workplace safety is known to increase productivity, minimize employees down time and lessen litigation. It is also a great way for employers to show employee appreciation.

When you think about it, being known as a pro-safety employer will also help you attract and retain the best brains in the market.

However, to reap all these benefits, you must have an organization that is safe for both employers and customers to inhibit. If you are unsure of how to go about it, here are some tips.

Hygiene

Dust and debris can hide in all areas of an organization; some are easy to reach and clean, while others are more challenging.

Still, the presence of dirt and germs in the office can cause disease and allergies. The result of this is that your employees will take more sick days off work, disrupting workflow.

Professional office cleaning in Montreal can provide a convenient, non-disruptive way of ensuring your offices are clean, neat, and sanitized at all times.

Create A Safety Culture

How often is safety discussed at your organization? The more a subject is discussed, the more it becomes embedded in the organization’s DNA.

Make it a habit to discuss safety within the workplace. Strive to make these conversations as practical and as useful as possible. Do this in meetings, team building sessions, send safety emails, and so on. Every bit counts.

Employee Safety Training

Every employee should have some safety training as part of their induction and onboarding process. When safety training is done on new members of an organization, it becomes much easier to absorb and embrace.

This aside, all employees should get periodic safety training. This can be generalized to the entire organization as well as specialized to meet different safety needs.

For example, your office receptionist and your factory maintenance guy will have extremely divergent safety training needs. These unique requirements should be met adequately.

Encourage Stretch Breaks

One thing you can do with employees that handle heavy equipment is to provide reasonably timed shifts. These will ensure your employees are able to perform optimally from the start to the end of their shift. This should be the case even during the busier festive seasons.

This aside, encourage stretch breaks. These are known to improve employee health and workplace ergonomics. Allow workers to take short walks around the premises, stretch, grab a coffee, and so on.

These actions may seem insignificant but do a lot to help employees rejuvenate and focus better. This is key in minimizing workplace injuries and accidents.

Get Started

Workplace safety doesn’t seem like an intimidating task on the face of it. And with what is at risk, it indeed is.

However, the goal is to make small, consistent efforts towards employee safety. Every bit counts.
