Adulthood kind of sneaks up on some people as being an adult means no longer acting like a careless kid and finally taking care of your own business without any assistance from others. There are those that seem to enter into adulthood while they are still a teenager because of certain serious circumstances. Still, others may not become a real adult until well into their forties. Getting Married
It used to be that when two people got married, adulthood would be part of the contract. It was time to act like adults and put all the pettiness aside. It was up to the two of you to stand on your own two feet. However, nowadays, it seems most marriages just do not make it. Perhaps that is because being an adult takes a commitment and certainly so does marriage. If you fail at one, there is a very good chance you may fail at the other.
Having a Baby
Knowing you are bringing a mini-me into this world should sober you up pretty quickly into being an adult. If it doesn’t, then there is probably something wrong with you. You are responsible for this child’s life for the foreseeable future. Don’t let them down by acting like a child that is only out for him or herself.
Your First Real Job
It is always a special adult moment when you finally land the career you can envision yourself working in for decades. With this career should come a suitable salary that will allow you to depend on yourself instead of others. Welcome to adulthood!
Being an adult means that you may not have the answers to everything, but you are willing to learn.
