Malala’s father was a teacher who has always encouraged her to become a politician and to speak up her mind.

Malala attended Khushal Girls High School and College, which was administrated by her father in the city of Mingora. Late, the Pakistani Taliban invaded her hometown and banned girls from going to schools.

She was also a student in the all-girls Edgbaston High School in Birmingham from 2013-2018.

She graduated from the University of Oxford in 2020 with a degree in philosophy, politics, and economics.

Activist

In 2008, after the Taliban attacked her hometown and banned young girls from attending schools along with many other activities, Malala gave a speech in Peshawar. She Talked about how this terrorist organization must not be allowed to take her right to receive a proper education.

Then in 2009, she became a BBC blogger. She concealed her identity and wrote under the name Gul Makai. In her blogs, Malala spoke about living under the Taliban rule and how she was denied her basic right to education.

She stated that only 11 out of 27 of her classmates have shown to school.

Malala’s Identity was revealed in December 2009. She continued blogging until the Taliban signed a peace deal with the government, and the ban on girl’s schools was lifted.

After her BBC blogging journey ended, Malala was approached by New York Times reporter to film a documentary. By the time the documentary was filmed Malala has already moved to live with relatives due to the evacuation of her town Mingora.

Assassination Attempt

With growing publicity and increasing activism, Malala received death threats from Taliban leaders. Then on October 9, 2012, the bus that Malala was riding on her way to school was stopped and a masked gunman asked about Malala Yousafzai. After identifying her, the gunman shot Malala in the lift side of her head.

Malala survived the gunshot, but her condition was critical. She was moved to the military hospital in Peshawar, then she was flown to Birmingham, England, to receive further care.

9 months later, on her 16th birthday, Malala gave her first speech at the UN. In her speech, Malala focused on education and women’s rights.

Nobel Prize

The company is finally ready to take action, and that action will come in the form of new safety tools designed to make the Tinder experience happier, safer, and more user-friendly. While some of the people you’d cross the street to avoid are easy to spot on the app, others mask the more unpleasant aspects of their personality very well. They sound charming and interesting when you speak to them through the app, only for them to turn out to be the stuff of nightmares when you meet them in reality. Tinder would like to help you to weed out those well-hidden people by allowing you to run a full background check on them before you agree to a date.

Some privacy campaigners are already up in arms about the implications of allowing someone you’ve never met to run a background check on you, but Tinder and the supporters of the policy change believe the potential benefits heavily outweigh the potential harm. The new feature, which is expected to be implemented in the very near future, will allow users to run criminal record checks on potential dates using only a telephone number or a full name. This new piece of functionality is made possible through Tinder’s recent investment in a charity called Garbo, which allows people to conduct discreet background checks on new partners or employees. While the checks aren’t as detailed as those available to the police, they’re able to identify arrest records and any known history of violence, harassment, or any associated crimes that might be deemed a risk in the context of an interpersonal relationship. Traffic violations and drug-related offenses will not be disclosed by the checks.

Somewhat controversially, the new feature won’t be free. Each check will come with an associated cost, so users are advised to perform them only on people they’re considering meeting in real life. The fact that a fee is being charged at all will inevitably lead to accusations that Tinder is putting profit before customer safety, but the company assures users that it’s working with Garbo to reduce the cost down to the lowest possible level. Tinder hasn’t yet confirmed whether the feature will be available to all users or whether it will be restricted to upper-tier subscribers. There could be another pitfall there if Tinder is seen to care less about the safety of its ‘free’ users than it does about those who pay a subscription fee.

Full details about the new feature aren’t yet available at the time of writing, so we don’t know what the checks will look like or how detailed they will be. We also don’t know what – if anything – will be done to guard against the risk of people using false names or “burner” telephones that aren’t connected to their real names. As with any system, though, there will be imperfections and people who will look to circumvent the rules via any means necessary. Anything that makes Tinder feel safer should be applauded, though, and if this change means people feel safer and more confident when arranging dates through the app, it should be applauded.

The Italians are well known for their fierce spirits and quite intensely expressed emotions, so among all the sports-related words, you will likely hear a wide range of Italian curses as well, but that’s not what this article is about. What are the most popular phrases you just have to know, when watching Serie A matches?

Copa del Mondo

It’s one of the biggest sports events for Italians and the phrase ‘copa del mondo’ stands for World Cup. If they are not watching their beloved Serie A at the moment, Italians most definitely follow the World Cup Games or at least the European Football Championship.

Squadra di calcio

This term means a ‘football team’ and you will definitely hear the phrase from your Italian friends. They simply love this game and everything that is conntected to it. If we know something for sure – it’s the fact, that every Italian has his/hers favourite squadra di calcio. By the way, if you will ever hear phrase ‘Azzurri’ – be respectful: they are talking about their national team. It’s one of the most sacred and valued things in their country!

Avversario

Avversario, the member of the opposite team. The most devoted fans of the Italian clubs of Serie A will pronounce the word with genuine disgust! It is well known, that Italians watch the matches with their whole hearts and spirits, so you might experience some surprisingly rapid reactions.

Riserva

Riserva means the reserve player, who is sitting on the bench. However, Italians can also use another phrase to describe such person: ‘il panchino’, which is a contemptuous term and rather refers to the person who keeps the bench warm all the time.

La vittoria

Well, you’ve probably figured out, that this word stands for the victory. It’s one of the favourite words of Italians, who value their teams and believe in them. If you ever hear similiar word ‘vincere’ – it’s a verb, which means “to win”.

Pareggiare

Less valued than la vittoria, although in many situations still the best possible option – a draw. Just as a reminder, it’s a situation, when two teams achieve exactly the same amount of goals. Even though sometimes pareggiare is slightly bitter sweet, at times it might be the only possibility, especially if the teams are equally good or just the opposite – make similar amount of mistakes.

Cartellino giallo

Remember when we mentioned, that Italians might curse a lot while watching matches? Well, if one of the team members of their favourite team receives cartellino giallo, nervous reaction is guaranteed. Especially considering the fact, that two of those might mean, that one of the players have to leave the field. Yes, you’ve guessed correctly: cartellino giallo means the yellow card.

Scommesse sportive

When we’re at the football-connected words, we can’t forget about the famous scommesse sportive. It’s a well known fact, that Italians love football and thus, they also like to place bets on their favourite teams. The bets can be made on simple things, such as ‘which team will win’ or ‘who will score the first goal of the match’. But there is also a type of bets, which are really popular during the biggest sports competitions, when one can bet on many rather weird things: such as how many times was wife of a famous players shown on camera etc.
