What Should You Know When It’s Time to Buy a New Smartphone

July 23, 2018 by TJ Leave a Comment

Is there any piece of technology more integral to most of our lives than the smartphone? A smartphone is how we work, how we communicate and how we entertain ourselves. Most of us always want to ensure we have an updated,  modern smartphone with all the bells and whistles.

Unfortunately, as with most technology, they don’t come cheap.

So what should you know when it’s time to buy a new smartphone?

Check out Amazon

In the past, when people wanted a new smartphone, they would usually go to their service provider, but there are a lot of other options now.

One option is Amazon. There are Amazon mobile phone coupons you can often find and take advantage of. Amazon also tends to have special sales and pricing throughout the year, such as their Amazon Prime Day which is usually in the summer.

When you shop Amazon for a smartphone, there is a big selection of unlocked options, and if you want to go outside the box and get a great phone with all the bells and whistles but a lower price tag, there are phones from smaller brands.

Even if you don’t buy a new phone from Amazon, sometimes finding an unlocked phone can be the thing to do.

Put Your Old Phone To Use

How many of us have a drawer full of old phones we no longer use? Probably most of us.

Put your old phone to use when you’re getting a new one. You can take your old phone to a retailer and carrier, and they might give you a percentage off a new phone. You can also sell your old phone on a site like Gazelle, although they might not give you as much as your old phone is worth.

The best way to maximize how much you get for an old phone is to sell it on your own, to another person.

Go Lower with the Storage

The most expensive phone models are typically the ones with the most storage, but do you really need that much storage? It’s something to think about.

Rather than getting as much storage as possible with a new phone, think about getting less storage and then finding another way to save your pictures and videos. You can transfer them off your phone on a regular basis, and save quite a bit on the cost of your new phone.

Finally, if you’re in the market for a new phone, it might be time to shop around and compare services at the same time. Some companies will pay the early termination fees you might have with another retailer if you switch to them. If your contract is up, you don’t even have to worry about termination fees at all, and many cell phone companies have regular pricing deals going on for new customers. As a final note, the cheapest type of cell phone plan is typically a family plan, if you can manage to make it work.

Creating an Online Business Customers Trust

July 14, 2018 by TJ Leave a Comment

It’s so important in today’s online-driven environment that businesses are able to build a sense of trust. Customers have seemingly endless options when they want to make a purchase, but at the same time, many online retailers don’t seem trustworthy. You’ll always hear stories of customers who thought they were purchasing one thing and received another, or paid for something that they never got.

One of the biggest competitive elements separating a successful online business from one that might not be as successful is a sense of trustworthiness. If you have an online business, and in particular, an online store, how do you build that sense of trust? How do you give yourself credibility that’s going to create conversions and loyalty?

The following are some strategies that can be used to build a true sense of trust on the part of customers toward your online business.

Data Security

You always want to ensure you’re protecting your customer’s data first and foremost. What’s been going on with Facebook and user data recently has really highlighted the importance of having customers feel like their data is safe with your business.

You have to ensure that you’re not only doing your part but that you’re working with vendors that value security as well.

63 percent of breaches come from third-party access, writes Maxine Henry, of compliance software provider Reciprocity. Do an assessment and ensure that you’re choosing the right third-party people to work with including vendors, suppliers, and partners.

Post Clear Policies for Shipping and Returns

Shoppers want to know what they’re getting before they make a purchase. There are quite a few considerations to keep in mind in this area. First, make sure that you have a well-defined return and exchange policy and it’s posted right where your visitors can find it. If certain items aren’t able to be returned, go ahead and let people know that upfront.

If you have any guarantees (which can be a good thing), put those front and center as well.

If your items take a little longer to ship, clearly state that either on the products or in your shipping policy.

Finally, don’t wait until the last minute to add in fees. You’re not going to close the sale if your customer gets to the checkout point and suddenly their price has gone up significantly. Some people might not like your policies, but that’s better than people making a purchase and then being unhappy after the fact because they feel like they were duped.

Being honest and transparent means that you’re okay with recognizing the weaknesses of your business, and you put them out there knowing that your strengths are greater than those weaknesses.

Make Yourself Accessible

Many customers don’t feel a sense of trust when they’re buying online because it feels like they’re interacting with a website and not a person. Make it feel as if your customers and site visitors can easily have access to you.

Post your email address, and include a form for questions to be submitted on your site. Make sure you respond quickly to customers.

You can also include a popup chat feature on your site so that customers and prospects will have an instantaneous way to connect with someone if they have a question or concern.

Be Consistent with Branding

A big element of a trustworthy brand is one that has consistent, reliable branding. You want to keep your messages consistent across platforms, as well as your design and aesthetics. You should also make sure that your communication style is similar across channels.

Customers want to know what to expect when doing business with you, and if they start to get comfortable with your branding, they’re more likely to become loyal to you.

Don’t Forget an “About Us” Page

Finally, an “About Us” page is often one of the most difficult things for online entrepreneurs and businesses to put together. They don’t really know where to start when it comes to talking about themselves, so they’ll just overlook it or leave it out.

It’s actually really important, however.

An about us page lets you connect with your customers and build trust on a human level. You have the opportunity to show them why you do what you do, what your history is, and what your values and philosophy are.

When you’re building an about us page, make sure you’re including not only a history and overview of your business but add some photos of your team and your biographies. People want to do business with people they feel are likable, or share things in common with them, such as certain values.

The Dangers Of Digital Devices

June 28, 2018 by TJ Leave a Comment

While digital devices have become an integral part of most individuals everyday lives, there are a few dangers of using digital devices, that you may not be aware of.

The dangers of digital devices:

Individuals are becoming addicted to their smartphones

In the last few years, individuals have become far more addicted to their smartphones due to the affordability of mobile data and the influence which social media has started to have on individuals lives.

One of the reasons why a large proportion of mobile users seem to be permanently attached to their smartphones is that every time they receive a follow, like or comment on one of their social media accounts, they’ll experience a small dopamine hit. Dopamine is a chemical released by people’s brains, which has much the same effect as recreational drugs, which makes social media incredibly addictive!

Why is society’s addiction to smartphones such a serious, widespread problem? The simple answer is that more individuals experience symptoms of depression as their happiness becomes dependent on how popular their online identity is.

Worse yet, many individuals have lost their ability to properly interact with others and to hold engaging conversations. As they have become so used to using social media apps in order to communicate with their friends and family members. Next time you go to a cafe or restaurant, take note of how many individuals are on their smartphones, whilst they’re sitting at a table with their loved ones, to see how addicted to smartphones individuals have become.

Your personal information can easily be stolen when you use your smartphone to shop online or access your online banking account

When you use your smartphone in public areas and utilize free Wifi, there is every chance that your smartphone could be hacked and that your personal information could be stolen. Examples of information which hackers try to steal include individuals’ passwords to their online banking accounts and their credit card information.

If in doubt, never use a free unsecured internet connection, when you’re out and about in public. As your personal information could very well become comprised. Instead, use the internet using your own data or avoid shopping online or accessing your internet banking account, until you get home. Also think twice before using an internet banking account or shopping online at resorts and hotels, whilst you’re traveling overseas.

There’s currently no data on whether the radiation which your body is exposed to when you use your digital devices, will have a negative impact on your health

While it’s known that smartphones do give off small amounts of radiation, there is currently no reliable data on whether being attached to smartphones, can have a long-term negative effect on smartphone users health.

You never know who you’re really talking to

Many individuals talk to individuals through dating apps or social media accounts, who they’ve never met, you may be lying about their identities and who could be a possible threat.

So while you may find it hard to live without your digital devices, it’s definitely well worth being aware of some of the dangers of relying so heavily on your smartphone, laptop and tablet.

How To Keep Your Personal Data Safe

June 28, 2018 by TJ Leave a Comment

In today’s digitally focused society, it’s incredibly important to safeguard your personal data. If you’re unsure of how to best protect your personal data, make sure to keep reading to discover five ways to keep your personal data safe.

How to keep your personal data safe:

Don’t be tempted to use the same password for all of your online accounts

Many internet users make the mistake of using the same exact password for each of their online accounts such as their email accounts and their online banking accounts. However, if you use the same password for all of your online accounts as well as to password protects your documents, if your password is hacked, each of your online accounts and files will become vulnerable to unauthorized hackers. So it’s well worth using a completely different password for each online account which you’ve signed up for.

Think twice before choosing to upload your sensitive files onto a Cloud-based service

While you may want to take advantage of being able to upload data onto an easily accessible cloud-based service, make sure to think twice before choosing to upload any highly sensitive files onto a Cloud-based service as no cloud service is 100% secure. In fact, even Apple’s well known Cloud has been hacked numerous times.

Try to avoid using free WiFi

When you’re out and about or traveling in a foreign country you may be tempted to take advantage of being able to access free WiFi connections, however it pays to be wary of free WiFi as if you try to transfer any files using free WiFi your personal data may be hacked by those who would use your personal data for their own purposes. As an example, hackers may try to hack your credit card details or may want to gain access to files which are on your smartphone.

Instead, opt to use your smart phone’s mobile data, if you plan on transferring or uploading any important files, which you can’t afford to be hacked.

Password protect all of your documents

Regardless of whether you prefer using Microsoft Word or Google Documents, it’s also well worth password protecting all of your documents. That way if anyone gains access to your laptop or smartphone, they won’t be able to access your sensitive documents.

Be careful about the websites which you choose to share your details with

As an example, if you enjoy a bit of online shopping, make sure that any website which you place an order through is a trustworthy website which will keep any information which you share with their company 100% private. As the last thing you want to do is to share your credit card details or your phone number with a less than reputable website. Who may try to steal your money or who may sell your information to a third party such as a marketing company.

Hopefully, after reading the 5 tips listed above, you’ll be able to take extra precautions to ensure that your personal data is kept private.
