3 Serious Injuries That Warrant Filing a Lawsuit to Recover Damages

April 2, 2020 by TJ 1 Comment

Whether you’ve been injured by a drug that has been connected to cancer, or you were injured during a medical procedure, you might be entitled to recover compensation for your injuries.

Dangerous drugs and medical malpractice lawsuits occur frequently

More than ten thousand cases of medical malpractice were reported to the NPDB between 2009-2018. That’s no small number. Unfortunately, many doctors and surgeons make mistakes that lead to serious injury and/or life-threatening consequences for their patients.

Likewise, there are currently thousands of lawsuits being filed against drug manufacturers for knowingly selling drugs containing ingredients linked to cancer.

Filing a lawsuit is the only way to recover financial compensation

If you’ve suffered a serious injury due to someone else’s negligence, you have a legal right to hold them accountable in a court of law and collect financial compensation. For example, thousands of people file medical malpractice lawsuits knowing they shouldn’t have to foot the bill for their doctor’s mistakes.

Injured patients who don’t file lawsuits are left with stacks of medical bills they can’t afford to pay and mounting bills at home.

If you’ve experienced the following types of injuries, you have a good reason to file a lawsuit:

1. A perforated bowel

A surgeon performing surgery on a patient’s GI tract needs to exercise a high degree of care. Most surgeons will take their time, but unfortunately, some surgeons rush their procedures or take shortcuts. The result can cause a perforation in the patient’s bowel, which can lead to life-threatening complications.

A perforated bowel is a potentially fatal medical condition that requires immediate treatment. A perforation in the GI tract can cause stomach, intestine, and bowel contents to seep into the abdominal cavity with bacteria in tow. The presence of bacteria can cause a life-threatening condition called peritonitis.

If you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms, you might have a perforated bowl.

  • Tiredness/fatigue
  • Chills and/or fever
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • A rapid heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Pain
  • A reduced need to use the restroom

If you suspect you have a perforated bowel, go to the emergency room and get checked out immediately. Once you receive a diagnosis, contact a lawyer who specializes in perforated bowel cases and find out if you have a case.

2. A cancer diagnosis after using Zantac or ranitidine

When the heartburn medication Zantac was put on the market in the early 1980s, everyone thought it was safe. Today, thousands of people are filing lawsuits against the makers of Zantac due to a connection to cancer.

When ingested, ranitidine breaks down into a known carcinogen called N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in quantities that far exceed the FDA’s “safe” limits.

In 2018, the online pharmacy Valisure discovered extremely high unsafe levels of NDMA in Zantac. Valisure filed a citizen petition to the FDA asking the agency to suspend and recall all ranitidine products including Zantac. The FDA ignored the petition. However, the FDA performed their own tests and found unsafe levels of NDMA in various forms of Zantac.

While the FDA has not officially recalled Zantac or generic ranitidine products, the manufacturers have issued a voluntary recall and stores like CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid have removed the products from their shelves.

Zantac is linked to the following cancers:

  • Bladder cancer
  • Stomach cancer
  • Colorectal and intestinal cancer
  • Thyroid cancer
  • Kidney and liver cancer
  • Uterine cancer
  • Pancreatic cancer
  • And several more

If you’ve taken Zantac or ranitidine and have been diagnosed with cancer, you might have a case. Consult with an attorney to find out if you qualify.

3. Misdiagnosis

A misdiagnosis may not seem sinister, but a misdiagnosis can prolong proper treatment and cause catastrophic injuries. Misdiagnoses are the number one source of medical malpractice lawsuits and are unfortunately a leading cause of death among patients. According to study data obtained by AARP, 20% of people were misdiagnosed and 66% required changes to their initial diagnosis. The study involved looking at 286 patients ages 15-80 who came to the Mayo clinic for a second opinion.

Since serious illnesses can present the same symptoms as common, non-life-threatening conditions, medical providers need to spend more time with their patients to provide an accurate diagnosis.

Don’t be afraid to pursue compensation for your injuries

If you have a valid claim, you need to make decisions that support your health and wellbeing. Contact an attorney to discuss your situation. Your injuries aren’t your fault and you deserve to be compensated.

In order to prevent yourself from trying to turn a series of losses around. Which could end up being a rather costly mistake.

Take advantage of the different bonuses which online casinos offer:

As there are a multitude of online casinos, most online casinos offer different bonuses. Which will encourage you to play online casino games on their websites. If you’re clever you’ll try and take advantage of some of the different bonuses which are available such as welcome bonuses and limited time bonuses. The latter of which are often set up to mark different milestones throughout the year.

Play online casino games which pit you again real life players:

If you play games against AI opponents you may find it more difficult to win games, than if you play against real life players. As while the house may be tipped to win in AI games, when you play against human players, someone gets to win, every time. If you play a game like poker.

So if you enjoy playing games like live roulette and slots, it’s definitely worth trying to beat the house by using all the information listed above to your advantage.

Times in Life When You Realize You Have Finally Entered Adulthood

March 20, 2020 by TJ Leave a Comment

You can’t be a kid forever and live in your parents’ basement. This type of life does not bring much growth. No matter how scary being an adult can be, it is all worth it in the end.

Adulthood kind of sneaks up on some people as being an adult means no longer acting like a careless kid and finally taking care of your own business without any assistance from others. There are those that seem to enter into adulthood while they are still a teenager because of certain serious circumstances. Still, others may not become a real adult until well into their forties. And we probably all know a few people that are entering their twilight years and still have not figured out how to behave like a mature and responsible person. Here are a few occasions in life that should snap a person into adulthood rather quickly.

Getting Married

It used to be that when two people got married, adulthood would be part of the contract. It was time to act like adults and put all the pettiness aside. It was up to the two of you to stand on your own two feet. However, nowadays, it seems most marriages just do not make it. Perhaps that is because being an adult takes a commitment and certainly so does marriage. If you fail at one, there is a very good chance you may fail at the other.

Having a Baby

Knowing you are bringing a mini-me into this world should sober you up pretty quickly into being an adult. If it doesn’t, then there is probably something wrong with you. You are responsible for this child’s life for the foreseeable future. Don’t let them down by acting like a child that is only out for him or herself.

Your First Real Job

It is always a special adult moment when you finally land the career you can envision yourself working in for decades. With this career should come a suitable salary that will allow you to depend on yourself instead of others. Welcome to adulthood!

Being an adult means that you may not have the answers to everything, but you are willing to learn. This may mean that when you are short on funds, you have to inquire about payday loans to get through the immediate future. It comes with the territory. Adulthood may not always be fun every day, but it will never be boring!

4 Reasons You Might Have A Rodent Problem

March 6, 2020 by TJ Leave a Comment

If you own a house, there is always a chance that it may be at risk of infestation with either rats or mice. Any form of rodent infestation can quickly become a costly ordeal if not handled correctly. Worse, they can expose you to a number of infectious diseases and parasites that can put the family’s health at risk.

If you suspect you have an infestation on your hands, you should contact your local rodent control immediately. They will come over right away and solve the issue with proper pest control solutions. Keep reading to find out how you might have a potential rodent problem.

#1: Bad Sanitation

Poor sanitation could be one possible reason for an infestation. In addition to health concerns and other issues, poor sanitation can lead to a situation in which rats and mice have easy access to sources of food and water, allowing them to move in and build a nest in your home.

Rats and mice are generally associated with unhygienic spaces, which is true if pieces of garbage are spread all over the property. Such rats are scavengers and will enter every home in search of food and a nest. If your home is not clean, it’s a hotbed for this kind of infestation.

Bird feeders and other spaces where foodstuff is left behind often attract rats and mice. Equally, nuts and fruits dropping from trees can also attract rats and mice to your house. Rodents are drawn to bodies of water, too. If you have a pet with a water bowl outside or an outdoor pool, you may want to eliminate those water sources by covering your pool, or moving your water bowls inside.

#2: Sheltered Spaces

Rats and mice are constantly looking for shelter which can serve as a possible breeding place for their babies. Outside the house, piles of leaves, deep mulch, and any other form of debris pile will serve as a colony’s safe nesting ground. From there, the rodents will then chew through the siding of the home and get inside.

Rats and mice both squeeze into incredibly small spaces and gain entry while searching for a secure place from predators. Rats can hole up inside unsealed cracks or holes and mice can squeeze into gaps as small as a dime.

Because mice can fit into small spaces, in addition to the other health concerns, any holes in walls, floors, plumbing lines, gas lines or sewer lines can leave your home vulnerable to an invasion. Rats are also able to gnaw through wood, so any old houses with wooden interiors may be more vulnerable to unwelcome house guests than new ones.

#3: Other Factors

A lot of other factors can make your home more vulnerable to a rodent infestation. There are also variables that can not be managed but they should be tackled so that every possible preventive step can be taken.

Any form of human interference in the environment, such as construction noise, may potentially cause rats to look for better and safer forms of shelter. Diminished temperatures also play a role in rat and mouse behavior: rat and mice infestations become more common as the temperatures get colder in fall. Since the rodents want to stay warm, they can burrow deeper into the house and stay there.

Stressful Environment: How to Handle an Annoying Neighbor

February 19, 2020 by TJ Leave a Comment

Living in an upscale subdivision with a beautiful beachfront and attractive porch is a dream come true. However, this can all be ruined if the residents next to you have disruptive behavior. It can be endless partying, uncontrolled pets roaming around up to your garage, sanitation issues or alarming fights that even your kids can hear. Worst of all, your neighbor might be conducting illegal activities and influence your children.

Know your neighbor better

Communication is the key to a harmonious relationship most of the time, and it applies to your neighbors too. Introduce yourself to them and bring a simple food gift like cookies. Simple yet friendly acquaintances are hard to resist. Inform your neighbor that you are not used to the noise or whatever problem they are causing you. Be polite and offer some solutions if you must. Your response should be valid and weighted with common sense. A crying baby, for example, is difficult to stop, so don’t react as if it’s the end of the world.

Use a mediator

If your neighbor ignores your friendly talk about the issue, then using a mediator might help. You can get in touch with your landlord if you are renting and tell them about the concern you encountered. You can also approach a common friend that you and your neighbor know and ask them to talk about the issue. Be sure that the mediator is a reliable one and will not heighten the current conflict. Lastly, to make it official, if you have a homeowners association in your place, you may talk to the elected officials about the problem. They may issue a letter of complaint addressed to the disturbing house.

Sell the house

You’ve talked already to the occupants of the house beside your house, and you are getting tired of continuous complaining. Selling your house and moving to another place might not be easy but can be an alternative solution. Remember, when you sell the house, you need to disclose to buyers the problems you encountered, to make them aware. It is their preference to accept or decline your offer. You may also reach out to We Buy Houses Fort Lauderdale and let them handle everything for you. Realtors have good marketing strategies, and they can talk to your neighbor as your representative.

Call the cops

It is best to write down all the disruptive incidents, dates, and short descriptions for the record. Review your local ordinances about noise, sanitation or related problems you encounter. If your neighbor is violating any of these, you may raise your concern in a legal way. You may also call the police in real-time when the disturbances are happening. It might be even more serious than you think, and calling the cops can stop domestic violence that no one knows about.

Your neighbors are part of your life, indirectly. You can have an enjoyable and fantastic life if you are at peace with your neighbors. They can give extra security and support. That is why a pleasant relationship is essential to establish within the neighborhood.

TV Licence Investigation Launched by UK Government

February 8, 2020 by TJ Leave a Comment

The UK Government has launched a consultation on whether or not failure to pay for your TV licence should be a criminal offence. Yes, you read that correctly. If you’re in the UK, you might be asking if you still need a TV licence.

You might also be wondering, what am I paying for? Currently, failure to pay for your TV licence can, in some cases, lead to criminal prosecution.

Most people only think about their TV licence when considering a TV licence change of address. However, the TV licence costs £154.50 for the entire year. What’s more, this will actually increase by £3 in April 2020.

The money we pay for the TV licence is paid to the BBC, who provide public service broadcasting. So, this begs the question ‘what do they do with the money?’ Well, their mission is to provide “impartial, high-quality and distinctive content”. Their mission, according to their website, is “to act in the public interest”.

According to the BBC’s Charter & Agreement, the TV licence’s fee is guaranteed to be in place until the end of 2027. The BBC’s Royal Charter outlines their purpose and funding

This might surprise you to learn, but the BBC rose just under £3.7 bn in 2019 from the licencing fee. This accounts for roughly 75% of their entire income. The money collected from this licence fee covers the BBC’s services. This includes the BBC website, their podcasts, TV etc…

So, what happens if you don’t pay the licence? We might also wonder if this why the Government has launched an investigation to see if it should be decriminalised. In 2018 over 100,000 people were convicted of evasion. From this 100,000 convictions, only 5 people went to prison. The maximum penalty for failure to pay for the TV licence is £1,000.

There was recent controversy around citizens aged 75 and over paying for their TV licence. The UK Government pays for the TV licence of those aged 75 or older. However, from May 2020 the BBC will foot this bill. The BBC tried to pass this charge onto the elderly, but public outrage was such that they were pressured into withdrawing the proposal.

For the time being, if you watch or record live TV programmes, stream live TV, or watch any BBC programmes it is still necessary to pay for your TV licence. And if you’re changing address, it’s important that you keep them informed also.

Where this government investigation will lead is anyone’s guess, but with growing public dissentient we can only imagine it won’t be too long until it is abolished entirely.

Vehicles 101: Basic Car Systems You Should Know About to Keep Your Car in Top Shape

February 3, 2020 by TJ Leave a Comment

Owning a car is a big responsibility. Aside from your home, purchasing a vehicle may be the next major investment you make. With this in mind, you surely would want to make sure that the car you buy gives you many miles of enjoyable driving.

To ensure that you get a good return on investment, make sure to get car services that can safeguard your valuable asset. These services – from preventive maintenance to car care – should be on top of your list of priorities when it comes to vehicle upkeep.

More Knowledge, More Miles

One of the most important aspects of car ownership is learning everything that you can about your car. How will you be able to thoroughly enjoy riding and driving it when you have no clue how it operates? Yes, you do not necessarily have to memorize every nut and bolt, but knowing the basics can do you a lot of good.

A car is a complex piece of automotive engineering. It is the sum of several sophisticated parts that work together to give you a safe and comfortable ride and drive. There is a symbiosis of software and hardware systems that ensures your vehicle runs as smoothly as it was designed to.

Just a bit of automotive know-how can help your vehicle and your hard-earned money go a long way. Being aware of the various vehicle systems, for one, can help you stay on top of the proper maintenance and use of the car. Keeping your car in top shape will also mean that you get the most value from your investment. More importantly, it means keeping you and your loved ones safe while on the road.

Whether your vehicle is used for business – a delivery van or a car rental unit, for instance – or is for your personal use, you should make sure that it stays in excellent shape. Its proper performance will save you money on fuel and repairs as well as help you avoid accidents.

Here are some of the basic vehicle systems you should be familiar with so you know how to better care for your car:

1. Braking System

One of the most critical (if not the most critical) safety systems of your vehicle is the brake system. It is responsible for the safe control of your vehicle in a wide variety of driving situations.

Stepping on the brake pedal causes hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder to flow through the hydraulic lines and hoses. This then goes to the calipers and wheel cylinders where the shoes are forced against the drum brakes and the pads against the disc brakes. This mechanism produces friction that slows down your vehicle and is dependent on how much force is applied on the brake pedals.

It is important for you to understand how it works so you can be alert if anything is out of the ordinary. Some tell-tale signs of brake system malfunction are pulling of the vehicle to one side during braking, unusual odor or burning smell, unusual noise when stepping on the brake pedal, a mushy or pulsating feel when you step on the brakes, and a shaky steering wheel.

When these happen, make sure to drive down to your trusty car service center and have your brakes checked. Also, do not ignore it when the light indicator for your brake system lights up on your dashboard.

2. Emission System

Your vehicle’s emission system is responsible for keeping the engine clean and running smoothly. Aside from controlling your car’s emissions, it also manages exhaust, gasoline vapors that may have leaked from the fuel tank, and other pollutants.

With the help of a sophisticated system of sensors, computerized engine regulators, and exhaust components, the emission system does its job of reducing noxious gases such as carbon monoxide (CO), unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Atmospheric and driving conditions, poor vehicle maintenance, inferior fuel quality, mileage, and vehicle age are some factors that contribute to the typical wear and tear of the emission system. If a steady or flashing light comes up on your dashboard, make sure to bring your car to a reputable service center as soon as possible.

3. Engine Cooling System

One of the most common road mishaps that takes place is overheating. To avoid this, you must ensure that your engine cooling system is regularly checked.

Your engine cooling system is responsible for eradicating the heat from the automatic transmission and engine and dispels it to the air outside. Thanks to new coolant technology and modern radiator materials and technology, a properly working engine cooling system maintains efficient engine operation.

You may also have to replace cooling system parts if you notice leaks or a sweet smell coming from the radiator, or if you notice that you need to frequently add fluid. To avoid these system flaws, it is best to follow the regular schedule of coolant changes, use the right type of coolant for your vehicle, and observe proper driving habits.

4. Fuel System

If you drive a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, you will have to be cautious about what type of fuel to use. Fuel quality is a key factor in the efficient running of the fuel system.

This system works with the rest of the engine system to ensure that your vehicle gives the best driving performance. Low-quality fuel, as well as other factors such as mileage, vehicle age, maintenance history, and other operating conditions, can affect the fuel system and, ultimately, the efficient performance of your automobile.

If you detect the smell of gas, if your vehicle won’t start, or if the “check engine” light is on your dashboard, make sure to call or visit a reliable service center.

5. Transmission System

Power is provided to your vehicle’s wheels when the transmission system works with the engine system. Whether your car has a manual, automatic, or hybrid transmission system, the kind of transmission plays a crucial role in its overall driving performance.

The transmission system matches the engine’s output to the vehicle load and speed conditions. Another component of the transmission system – the torque converter – is also instrumental in managing the engine torque’s flow into the transmission for a more dynamic and controlled drive.

Some signs of a flawed transmission system include bucking, difficulty in shifting, grinding gears, hesitation, and slipping. Once you notice these signs, it is best to bring your car to a well-regarded car service center for a check-up.

Safer, Longer Drive

Knowing how your vehicle works lets you take one step towards a more satisfying and rewarding car ownership experience. Not only will you be able to avoid unnecessary repair or replacements costs, but you will also help prevent accidents on the road.

Make sure that you bring your vehicle to a reputable car care center for its regular check-up so you can detect, prevent, or address any irregularities. It is best to entrust the care of your vehicle to the able hands of experienced automobile experts to ensure maximum safety and performance.

When you want your car to last longer, take the time to learn about how it works. This is key to a lasting relationship with your trusty road companion.

Tips on How to Prepare Your Home for Winter

December 9, 2019 by TJ Leave a Comment

The winter season is around the corner again. As early as now, it’s best to prepare your home for the cold months to ensure that everyone in the family is comfortable and safe. Here are some tips on how to do that.

Have your heating system checked

One of the most important things that you will use in the winter months is the heating system. It will keep the temperature warm inside the house, as long as it’s working fine. It’s vital to have it checked before the cold weather sets in to ensure warmth and comfort in your home. Furthermore, it will be costly and difficult to hire a heating system specialist during the winter season since they are in demand during that time.

Seal doors and windows

Seals on doors and windows could get damaged over time, and when this happens, the insulation in your home will not be efficient. Inspect your doors and windows and replace loose or busted seals. Repair any other damage on your doors or windows to prevent cold air from outside coming in and hot air from your home going out. If the window or door itself is beyond repair, it may be best to replace it.

Fix roof issues

Roofs usually last for several years. However, there may be loose shingles that need to be fixed or replaced. These shingles add protection to the roof. You may inspect on your own, or you can also hire a roof specialist to do not just the inspection but even the repair or replacement for you. You can also add solar panels to your roof for increased power through those winter months.

Dispose of bugs and termite-infested winter clothes

Throughout the year, you probably have your winter clothes sitting inside your closet until the cold weather comes. Termites and insects may have infested them. You don’t want to wear these clothes, so make sure to check all of your winter clothes to see which requires disposal.

Replace pillowcases, bedding, and duvets if needed

Like your winter clothes, pillowcases, bedding, and duvets that were stuck in the closet may also be infested with bugs and termites. Check them and determine which of them you need to dispose of. Duvets can also get thin over time, and they may not offer the same warmth as they used to before. Replace them with new ones if they already reached this stage.

Clean the gutters

Leaves may fall in the gutter and may cause water to overflow. It may cause damage to the roof and the foundation of the house. Again, you can do the gutter cleaning yourself or have a professional do the job for you.

Have your chimney cleaned

Chimneys may have damage that is not easily visible. If you use your fireplace often, annual cleaning is recommended. If not, you can have it cleaned and checked every two to three years.

Hire an arborist

To prevent branches or trees falling and damaging your property, get the help of an arborist before the winter comes, to see which ones need pruning or cutting.

Your winter clean-up and preparation may leave you with junk to dispose of. A Boca Raton junk removal specialist can take care of the proper disposal of your trash.
